98 years of PCdoB – The flag of hope in the 98 years of the PCdoB
The Communist Party of Brazil (PCdoB) reaches its 98 years of uninterrupted activities, which will be completed on March 25. The celebrations will take place in the middle of a major worldwide battle against the coronavirus, which is no different in our country.
We are in the midst of an international conjuncture of deep economic and humanitarian crisis and a local conjuncture of threats to democracy, national sovereignty and the rights of the Brazilian people.
Strengthened by the incorporation of the Free Fatherland Party (PPL) in 2019, the communist party undertakes resolute opposition to the Bolsonaro’s government to defend the nation’s interests and workers’ rights.
Brazil lives in a situation in which the institutional bases of the democratic regime are under continuous attack and, if it depends on the power project of the government of President Jair Bolsonaro, they can be destroyed. Given the international scenario of the Coronavirus pandemic and its humanitarian and economic consequences, the internal situation becomes even more dramatic with the authoritarian, anti-scientific and ignorant outbursts by the central government.
We arrived at the eve of the centenary with the experience of those who, over almost a century, faced dictatorships and authoritarian governments that infested the history of our Republic, as well as most Latin American countries. PCdoB celebrates its ninety-eighth birthday with the people, its voters, allies and friends, making efforts to unite a wide range of political, social, economic and cultural forces in defense of Brazil.
The PCdoB understands that democracy is the foundation on which the process of struggle for the sovereign development of our country is built and dynamized. And it is by breathing the pure air of freedoms that the people and the working class best make the journeys for their rights. Bolsonarism leaves no room for doubt that it represents the oligarchic history that never accepted the path of democracy as a path to national development, with independence and guarantee of social rights.
PCdoB is long-lived, young and, above all, contemporary. Its program, based on the formation and history of our country, combines reforms and revolution, socialism and democracy, sovereignty and development, production of wealth and guarantee of rights and dignified life for the people.
The path it points to is the strengthening of the nation through the struggle for a New National Development Project; the path is the transition from capitalism to socialism. This Program is the essence of the itinerary that has been running since 1922 and has been present in practically all the clashes in the history of the Republic. At this juncture of his 98th birthday, he proves to be, once again, essential to the people and the country.
